
EYE EXAMINATIONS
Eye examinations are a fundamental part of the complete optometric experience, and one of the things we're good at. We have three optometrists (Anne, Natalie and Richard, who are all members of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists) and three well-equipped modern consulting rooms. At the conclusion of any of our exams you'll get a recommendation for a course of action which could include glasses or contact lenses, eye drops or eye exercises, a visit to a medical doctor or specialist or just an instruction to go home and stop worrying.
EYE EXAMINATION SERVICES INCLUDE:
- comprehensive eye exams - the works! Involves vision assessment, determination of spectacle prescription, internal and external eye disease assessment, assessment of depth perception, colour vision, eye muscle co-ordination, pupil function and eye pressure. You'll find out whether we can improve your vision and whether you're at risk of eye disease.
- contact lens fitting - sorting out the contact lens that's going to meet your needs.
- short consultations - to remove foreign bodies, treat red eyes or eye infections, syringe your tear ducts, assess sudden new developments with your vision, sort out a vision certificate for your dirvers licence, find lost contact lenses and so on.
- contact lens aftercares - progress checks for new contact lens wearers, which are vital to arriving at the right lens for you.
- retinal photography - providing a really valuable record of the appearance of the inside of your eye for future comparison.
- visual field exams - these provide us with further assessment of your peripheral visual function - helpful for diagnosing glaucoma, and other eye disease.
- civil aviation exams - for all the budding pilots out there.
- dilated retinal exams - eye drops are used to make your pupils larger, allowing a more detailed inspection of the inside of of your eye.
